Agartala: May 31: In a decisive move, the Agartala Municipal Corporation took action against illegal shops that had encroached upon government land. The demolition drive occurred today, targeting shops on both sides of the road stretching from Siddhi Ashram to the Agartala Badharghat railway station.

Commissioner Shailesh Kumar Yadav emphasized that the administration had issued prior notices to the shopkeepers, urging them to vacate the unauthorized structures. Unfortunately, some shop owners disregarded these warnings.

The primary reason behind the demolition was the impending widening of the road from Siddhi Ashram to the Agartala Badharghat railway station. The illegal shops obstructed this development, prompting the authorities to take swift action.

This morning, bulldozers razed several illegal shops, restoring the government land to its rightful use. The Agartala Municipal Corporation remains committed to maintaining order and ensuring public spaces are free from unauthorized encroachments.
