Agartala, Sep 12: In preparation for the upcoming Durga Puja festivities, the West Tripura district administration convened a special coordination meeting on Thursday at the Agartala Town Hall to ensure peaceful, safe, and smooth celebrations.

The meeting, organized by the Superintendent of Police (SP), West Tripura District, brought together key stakeholders including puja organizers, decorators, sound system providers, and representatives from local clubs. West Tripura District Magistrate (DM) Dr. Vishal Kumar and SP Namit Pathak led the discussions, alongside other senior officials.

Addressing the media, SP Pathak said the purpose of the meeting was to strengthen two-way communication between the administration and puja committees. “Our goal is to identify gaps from previous years and ensure citizens can celebrate Durga Puja without any difficulties,” he noted.

DM Vishal Kumar stressed the importance of effective traffic management during the festival. He stated that certain areas may be declared no-entry zones depending on crowd size and traffic flow, and these restrictions would be announced in advance to minimize inconvenience.

Technical and logistical aspects, including sound system regulations and decoration safety protocols, were also discussed to avoid violations and ensure smooth coordination among stakeholders.

According to the DM, West Tripura will host around 600 Durga Puja celebrations this year. Of these, nearly 230 will be large-scale events attracting significant footfall, while the rest will be smaller community-based pujas.

Appealing for collective cooperation, the DM urged organizers, service providers, and citizens to extend full support to the administration. “Durga Puja is not just a festival, it is a celebration of joy and togetherness. We request everyone’s cooperation to ensure that the five-day festivities remain harmonious, safe, and incident-free,” he said.
