Agartala November 13: The court ordered Gopal Singh, a lawyer arrested in connection with the murder of Muhuri Amit Acharjee, to be kept in jail till November 24. The police of West Agartala police station appear the arrested Gopal Singh to the court on Monday requesting a three-day police remand. The court dismissed the police remand plea and ordered the accused to be remanded in jail. It is known that on September 5, Muhuri and lawyer got involved in a fight in the court premises due to previous violence.

Allegedly, two lawyers and three muhuris severely beat Amit Acharjee, a licensed muhuri in the court. A fatal attack was carried out on him in the district court. Muhuri Amit Acharjee was seriously injured. He was first admitted to IGM Hospital from there he was referred to GB Hospital. Then on September 12 after being discharged from GB Hospital, he was taken other state for better treatment. Muhuri Amit Acharjee died in the early hours of September 23 while undergoing treatment. Dilip Acharjee, father of deceased Amit Acharjee, filed a written case at West Agartala police station in view of this incident on September 23. After the case was filed at the police station, 5 accused fleed from their home. Finally, on Sunday, information came to the police that lawyer Gopal Singh, one of the accused in the case, was seen around his house.

Accordingly, the police conducted a raid and arrested lawyer Gopal Singh. On Monday, the police appear the accused lawyer Gopal Singh to the court, requesting a three-day police remand. Government lawyer Dilip Debnath said there are four other accused along with arrested Gopal Singh. They are still absconding. He asked in support of the police remand application of the accused arrested in the court today. He also demanded to reject the bail application of the arrested accused. On this day, lawyer Shankar Lodh appeared in the court on behalf of the accused and arrested lawyer Gopal Singh. He told reporters that Gopal Singh had beaten up the deceased Amit Acharjee 18 days ago. After this incident, Amit Acharjee was first taken to IGM and then GB Hospital. Amit Acharjee was discharged from GB Hospital. Later, the family took him to a private hospital in Kolkata for treatment. Amit Acharjee died while undergoing treatment there. But it does not prove that Amit Acharjee was beaten up by Gopal Singh. The matter has been brought up in the court today. And the police remand plea of arrested Gopal Singh has been rejected and the bail plea has been granted. After hearing the arguments of the lawyers of both sides, the judge in the court initially reserved the judgment after the hearing. Later, the court rejected the three-day police remand plea of the accused lawyer Gopal Singh and ordered the accused to be remanded in jail till November 24. After the death of Muhuri Amit Acharjee, his father filed a case against a total of 5 people at West Agartala police station. Among them, Gopal Singh was arrested by the police, but the rest of the accused are absconding.
