Agartala: Mar 12: In a significant development, the Supreme Court has directed the State Bank of India (SBI) to furnish comprehensive details of all electoral bonds purchased since April 12, 2019. The court’s order mandates that this information be submitted to the Election Commission of India (ECI) by March 12. Additionally, the ECI has been instructed to promptly publish these details on its official website by March 15, said TPCC state President and candidate for Loksobha election Ashis Kumar Saha in a press conference.

He further said , the court’s decision comes in response to a petition filed by the Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR). The ADR had raised concerns about the opacity surrounding the electoral bond scheme, which allows for anonymous donations to political parties. By seeking transparency and accountability, the court aims to address these critical issues related to political funding.

The Congress party has taken a firm stance against the recently passed Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA). The party contends that the CAA is discriminatory and infringes upon the fundamental rights of citizens. This announcement follows the Act’s passage in Parliament last week and reflects the Congress’s commitment to safeguarding constitutional principles.

In a strategic move, both the Congress and the Left Front have decided to contest the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in Tripura independently. The Congress will field its candidate in the West Tripura seat, while the Left Front will do the same in the East Tripura seat. This decision underscores the parties’ divergent approaches and highlights the competitive electoral landscape in the state.

Targeting the Tipra Motha party he said,  currently grappling with internal questions regarding its demand for a Greater Tipraland. Cadres within the party are seeking clarity on whether the recently signed tripartite agreement with the government adequately addresses this demand. Party president Pradyot Kishore Manikya Debbarma has asserted that the agreement does not explicitly mention Greater Tipraland, leading to further scrutiny and discussion within the party ranks.
