Agartala, January 29: As in the Left period, the Toshan policy was carried out for the sake of votes without taking legal action against the miscreants of anti-Bengali misdeeds. The BJP-led government in Tripura is also pursuing the same policy in its pursuit of power. At the press conference today, Amara Bengali secretary Gaurang Rudrapal said this while bringing up the issue of the demolition of 14 houses of Bengalis in Koloy Para under Teliamura police station.
On this day, he said, in the darkness of last Friday night, miscreant’s demolished 14 houses under construction under the Prime Minister’s Housing Scheme in Koloy Para under Teliamura police station. Evidence has been found that the invaders will not allow Bengalis to stay in that area. We Bengalis are saddened by protesting this incident.
According to him, there was a temporary police camp in Teliamura in the past. But it has been given up a long time ago. Permanent police camp should be set up in North Brahmachara area of Teliamura and security arrangements should be made for Bengalis living in remote areas. Therefore, immediately those who vandalized the houses of Bengalis in North Brahmachara should be identified and given the strictest punishment. Also compensation should be arranged for the victims.
The organization also demanded that tax should be stopped on Bengali businessmen doing business in ADC area. Moreover, the constitutional rights of Bengalis should be established in Tripura.
