Agartala: Senior Congress leader and CWC member Rahul Gandhivis scheduled to embark on a two-day visit to Tripura, slated for the end of December or within the first two weeks of January 2024.
During his two-day state visit, the State Congress Committee is gearing up to organize a grand party rally, almost in the fashion of Bharat Jodo Yatra, in an effort to rejuvenate the party’s strength here, state Congress president Asish Kumar Saha has said.
Saha, who had been in South Tripura today to meet the party workers and take note of the prevailing situation from ground zero, emphasized that this ambitious rally would serve as a resounding “expression of the discontent” brewing among the public against BJP.
The senior Congress leader had also condemned the targeted violence on the people affiliated to his party and alleged that “autocratic force” in power was allergic to any kind of dissent.
“While Rahul Gandhi was at the forefront, leading the charge to unite the entire nation through his march, TPCC also took steps to organize rallies in rural areas to disseminate the ideology of our party and how we differ from the BJP. Our peaceful efforts, however, did not go down well with the ruling party. Several Congress leaders fell victim to brutal attacks orchestrated by henchmen sponsored by the ruling party.”
When questioned about the organizational challenges and the resurgence of Congress in South Tripura district, the Congress leader explained, “The State Congress unit is in talks with the AICC for certain reforms that are must for an organizational resurgence. We have recently submitted a set of proposals to the AICC, seeking their approval on this matter. We are optimistic that the AICC will soon show green signal to the proposals allowing us to constitute Bloc, State and District level committees of the party afresh.”
