Agartala: Resentment is brewing among the locals of Teliamura against Sub-inspector Ram Krishna Das who had, reportedly, wreak havoc on the night of Maha Navami in inebriated condition.
Locals said, the cop had not only misbehaved with the devotees who ventured out for pandal hopping but also harassed some vendors who opened makeshift stalls on the occasion of Durga Puja.
Even sources in his own department claimed that his excessive weakness towards alcohol has started to harm his career.
Sources also revealed that a few months back he had been arrested under Tripura Police Act 90 and sent for medical examinations.
However, the matter could not get public as the senior officials forayed into it for his rescue.
According to locals, the police officials had went on a rampage teasing, bullying and even physically hackling pandal hoppers. A female pandal hopper complained that just because her husband shot a video of her inside the Puja marquee, the phone was seized.
Sources also said that a group of locals have already made the SDPO Teliamura Prasun Kanti Tripura aware of his disgraceful acts.
The incident has sent shockwaves in the entire police administration. At a time, Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha has called for transparent governance and policing system for people, such kinds of incidents may prove detrimental for the confidence of people in police.
