AMC enables city dwellers to find public toilets on Google

Agartala: The Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) has partnered with Google to improve the management of city toilets and enhance services for commuters. This innovative approach aims to make public toilets more accessible and efficient.
An official from AMC stated, “Agartala has approximately 44 to 45 public toilets, with 22 of them charging a fee for use while the rest are free. The locations of all these toilets are now available on Google’s toilet locator. This will prove beneficial for daily commuters, the police, and traffic authorities.”
However, upon searching for these facilities on Google, it became evident that they had been tagged and reviewed by users. Unfortunately, many of the reviews were negative, citing issues with hygiene and maintenance. Nevertheless, some of the fee-charging toilets received positive reviews.
Regarding maintenance concerns, the official acknowledged that several toilets were not well-maintained. AMC has recognized the urgency of addressing these issues and plans to transition all city toilets to a pay-per-use model in the coming months. An external agency has been engaged to oversee operations, ensuring better upkeep.
