The corporation authorities lifted the shops of the angry traders along the road with a crane. This eviction operation of Municipal Corporation started from Saturday morning. In this regard, it is known from the corporation authorities that this initiative has been taken to keep Agartala city free from traffic jams. Traffic department has already issued a ban on e-rickshaws and pedal rickshaws. The Chief Minister has directed the Municipal Corporation to keep the city traffic free and clean during the Puja season. To comply with the Chief Minister’s order, the Municipal Corporation finally started eviction of illegal encroachment in Battala area from Saturday morning. Additional Commissioner Mohammad Sajjad led the eviction operation. There was a huge force of the Municipal Corporation along with the police. From the early hours of this day, an operation was started to clear the Battala main road towards the cremation road through Dasamighat through Battala. Mayor Deepak Majumder said that this operation was carried out as per the pre-scheduled announcement. He said that action is being taken against those who are illegally occupying the road and creating problems. This operation will be carried out in the coming days also in different streets of the city.
However, those who have a vendor license will be given the opportunity to sit in a specific place, said the mayor. The mayor wants the cooperation of the city residents in this case. This kind of operation will be conducted after evening. Shop license may be revoked. Mayor Deepak Majumdar gave a strong message that shops can be kept open till 11 pm.
