Agartala: Aug 03: Cannabis-laden vehicle intercepted at Churaibari watchpost while crossing Tripura border and entering Assam. However, this time the Bharat Petroleum vehicle is involved in the smuggling of dried cannabis.
According to the details, when the ten-wheeler Bharat Petroleum Tanker No. NL 01 AG-5508 from Agartala arrived at Assam Churaibari Police Naka Point, the police searched inside the tank and recovered a large quantity of dried cannabis. A total of 1420 kg of cannabis was seized in about 71 packets. Its black market value is said to be around one crore forty two lakh rupees. Meanwhile, the driver of the car, Mithun Sarkar of Teliamura was arrested. Although he initially did not confess to his crime, he later revealed that the cannabis was destined to be taken from Agartala to Bihar. The police have registered a case under the NDPS section against the driver of the accused vehicle and started investigation.
