Agartala: Aug 01: Agartala: Aug 01: The dream of the people of Kailashahar as well as the entire undivided northern district is going to be fulfilled soon. The Civil Aviation Authority of India has taken the initiative to renovate the abandoned Kailasahar airport in Unkoti district for many years. Kailashahar MLA Birjit Sinha, Former MLA Mobswar Ali, Tripura Government Transport Department Secretary Uttam Kumar Chakma, Unkoti District District Magistrate Tarit Kanti Chakma, Agartala Airport Authority Kailas Chandra Meena, TRTC Managing Director Sajal Biswas, Kailash Sub Divisional Magistrate Pradeep Sarkar, Sushanta Chowdhury, Minister of Transport Department, Government of Tripura, presided over a high-level meeting in the conference hall of the circuit house of Unakoti district in the presence of senior officials of the co-administration and other officials of the Airport Authority of India.
In this important meeting, Minister Sushanta Chowdhury said that the Union Ministry of Civil Aviation has taken up the flight program to re-open the service by upgrading the airports which are currently out of service across the country. The program emphasizes the expansion of air communication services at the regional level.
Chief Minister of our state Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha has always drawn the attention of the central government regarding the overall development of the state, he said. He also said that after our Bharatiya Janata Party coalition government came to power in our state, several groundbreaking steps were taken with the help of the central government, especially the rapid expansion of communication systems, in view of which the people of the state are enjoying its benefits today. He said, I am hopeful that air services will be started soon by renovating the old airport by acquiring the land for Kailashahar airport. If this Kailasahar airport in Unakoti district reopens, the tourism industry will improve greatly. The minister expressed hope that there will be economic development in this area.
Soon the work of lengthening the runway by rehabilitating 22 families will be started by acquiring 700 meters of land in the northern part of the airport. Seventy meters of land on the western side of the existing airport will be acquired to build airport authority offices and car parking space. Boundary walls will be constructed first in those areas where there are no boundary walls by acquiring the land before the launch. Due to Manu River on the south side of the airport, the runway cannot be extended on the south side As a result of which land will be acquired on the north side of the airport and the work of extending the runway will begin.
