Agartala, May 2: MBB airport is likely to be declared as an international airport in the first week of next month. The Union Civil Aviation Minister said this in a letter to the Chief Minister today. Transport Minister Sushanta Chowdhury said this at a press conference at the Secretariat today. He added that flight service from Agartala to Chittagong will be started in the first week of next month.
On this day, he said, Chief Minister Professor Dr. Manik Saha raised various demands related to Tripura’s transport to Union Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia and appealed to fulfill them immediately. As part of this, a letter has come to the Chief Minister today. It will create necessary infrastructure to convert Agartala Maharaja Bir Bikram Airport into an international airport.
He claimed that the central government is trying its best to improve the transport system of Tripura. On this day, he also said that Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia has said in a letter that there is a possibility that Chittagong international flight service will be launched from Agartala in the first week of next month. MBB Airport at Agartala will then be declared as an international airport.
He further informed that the Chief Minister of Tripura had also requested the Union Minister Shri Scindia to start cargo services at MBB airport. A few days ago, cargo services were launched at Agartala Airport.
He claimed that the statue of Maharaja Bir Bikram Kishore Manikya will be constructed in bronze after the Agartala MBB airport is declared an international airport. He said that 25 lakh rupees will be spent on it.
