Agartala, Oct 11: The Indian Army will conduct a five-day Agniveer recruitment rally in Agartala from October 13 to 17, with 1,203 shortlisted candidates set to participate in the second phase of the selection process, officials said on Sunday.
The rally will be held at the Dasharath Deb State Sports Complex in Badharghat under the supervision of the Army Recruiting Office (ARO), Silchar, with support from the local civil administration and various Army units.
A total of 4,885 candidates registered for this year’s recruitment process, marking a 92 per cent increase over the previous year. The number of shortlisted candidates has also risen by 62 per cent compared with last year, officials said.
Candidates from all districts of Tripura will participate in the recruitment drive and undergo physical fitness tests, physical measurements, medical examinations and verification of the required documents.
The physical fitness assessment will include a 1.6-kilometre run, pull-ups, a nine-foot ditch crossing and a zigzag balance test. Candidates will subsequently undergo physical measurements as part of the selection process.
The Army has informed all shortlisted candidates through their registered email addresses and issued admit cards for participation in the rally.
Candidates have been advised to report to the venue on their allotted dates with their admit cards and the necessary documents for verification.
The recruitment rally forms part of the second phase of selection under the Agnipath scheme. Candidates will be assessed according to the prescribed eligibility criteria and selection standards, officials said.
The Army reiterated its commitment to ensuring a transparent and merit-based recruitment process, with candidates evaluated in accordance with established procedures.
The civil administration in Agartala and personnel of the Red Shield Division have made arrangements for the smooth conduct of the five-day event.
Officials are coordinating logistical and administrative support to facilitate the recruitment process and ensure that candidates from across the state can participate in the scheduled assessments.
The increase in registrations comes ahead of the recruitment drive, which will bring together aspiring Agniveers from all districts of Tripura for the mandatory physical and other assessments.
The shortlisted candidates will be able to proceed to subsequent stages of selection subject to meeting the Army’s prescribed requirements.
