Agartala, October 4: Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha on Saturday said his government has prepared a master plan to develop modern infrastructure in all Nagar Panchayat and Municipal Council areas of the state, extending its focus on urban development beyond the capital Agartala.
Saha said the government was committed to ensuring that the benefits of development and improved public services reached all sections of society.
“Rising above politics, the government is implementing development programmes and delivering various services to the doorsteps of the people,” he said.
The chief minister was speaking after inaugurating a newly constructed two-storey ward office of Ward No. 43 of the Agartala Municipal Corporation at Pratapgarh. The facility was built at a cost of Rs 97.43 lakh.
Saha said the state government was working to ensure that government schemes and services reached the last person, in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of inclusive development.
He said Agartala had witnessed substantial work in recent years to improve civic amenities, including drinking water supply, roads, drainage, housing, healthcare and livelihood opportunities.
Under the AMRUT 2.0 project, drinking water infrastructure has been developed at a cost of Rs 112 crore, while around 16,000 families have so far been provided with potable water, he said.
The chief minister said 48 flats had been constructed for economically weaker sections, while construction of two more housing projects was underway.
“Another set of programmes will be implemented under the AMRUT 3.0 project,” Saha said.
He said 65 projects had been implemented across Agartala under the Smart City Mission at a total cost of Rs 581 crore.
The government was also focusing on strengthening civic infrastructure and beautifying the state capital, he said.
Saha said the proposed infrastructure planning for Nagar Panchayats and Municipal Councils would help improve public amenities and services in urban areas across Tripura.
He said development initiatives were aimed at ensuring better civic facilities for people in both urban and peripheral areas while improving their access to government services.
Agartala Municipal Corporation Mayor and MLA Dipak Majumder, Deputy Mayor Monika Das Dutta, South Zone Chairman Abhijit Mallick and Municipal Corporation Commissioner Saju Wahid were among those present at the programme.
