Agartala, October 2: Tripura Tribal Welfare Minister and Krishnapur MLA Bikash Debbarma on Friday reviewed preparations for a programme to distribute yarn and government certificates among beneficiaries of his constituency on October 13.
Debbarma chaired a meeting at the BJP Mandal office in Krishnapur to discuss arrangements for the programme, which will be held at the Poush Sankranti Mela grounds near Chakmaghat Barrage.
Chief Minister Manik Saha is scheduled to attend the event and is expected to distribute certificates to beneficiaries and oversee the yarn distribution, according to organisers.
During the meeting, Debbarma asked party workers to ensure that eligible beneficiaries, particularly those residing in tribal and remote areas, are informed about the programme and its benefits.
He directed workers to undertake door-to-door outreach and personally invite residents to the October 13 event. He also stressed the need to maintain regular contact with families so that eligible beneficiaries are not left out.
Debbarma said government services and welfare benefits should reach citizens irrespective of their political affiliation and urged workers to create greater awareness about schemes and services available to residents.
Members of the BJP’s Tribal Morcha were asked to participate in the outreach exercise, particularly in remote villages where communication gaps can prevent people from receiving information about government initiatives.
The meeting was attended by BJP Mandal general secretary Wathrai Molsum and other local leaders, workers and supporters. Discussions covered beneficiary identification, public outreach and arrangements for the proposed programme.
The October 13 event will include distribution of yarn aimed at supporting traditional livelihood activities besides presentation of government certificates to eligible beneficiaries.
Residents of Ratia, Durgapur, South Durgapur and adjoining areas are expected to benefit from the initiative, organisers said.
Preparations at the Poush Sankranti Mela grounds are underway ahead of the programme, with local organisers working on arrangements for the gathering.
Debbarma also emphasised the need for coordinated efforts among local workers and organisers to facilitate wider dissemination of information about the event.
He asked workers to give particular attention to remote and tribal habitations where residents may face difficulties in accessing information about government schemes and services.
The minister said sustained grassroots-level contact would help ensure that eligible families are able to access the benefits and services being made available through the programme.
