Agartala, September 21: A new Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and a Central Sterile Services Department (CSSD) were inaugurated at AGMC and GBP Hospital on Monday, marking another addition to the healthcare infrastructure of Tripura’s major referral hospital.
Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha inaugurated the ICU at the newly developed Super Specialty Block and the CSSD during a programme attended by senior medical and health department officials.
MLA Meena Rani Sarkar was present as the special guest, while Health and Family Welfare Department Secretary Kiran Gittey attended the event as the guest of honour. Doctors, healthcare professionals and other officials were also present.
The newly introduced facilities are intended to improve critical-care services and strengthen the hospital’s sterilisation and infection-control arrangements.
Speaking at the programme, Dr Saha said the government was continuing to focus on modernising healthcare infrastructure and expanding the availability of quality medical services in the state.
He said several development initiatives were being implemented at GBP Hospital to improve its infrastructure and enhance facilities for patients requiring specialised treatment.
The ICU at the Super Specialty Block will provide additional infrastructure for the management of critically ill patients. The CSSD, on the other hand, will support the sterilisation of medical equipment and supplies, an important component of hospital infection-control practices.
Dr Saha said sustained infrastructure development was necessary to improve healthcare delivery and provide patients with better medical facilities.
Officials said the new units would strengthen existing services at AGMC and GBP Hospital and help improve the efficiency of patient-care operations.
The inauguration is part of the continuing expansion and modernisation of the hospital’s facilities, aimed at strengthening specialised healthcare services for people from across Tripura.
