Belonia, Aug 25: Tripura Minister Sudhangshu Das on Tuesday reviewed the implementation of various government welfare schemes and departmental programmes during a district-level meeting at the Belonia Circuit House Conference Hall.
The meeting, chaired by Das, was attended by officials from the Animal Resource Development Department (ARDD), Fisheries Department and Scheduled Caste Welfare Department, along with local representatives of South Tripura.
The discussions focused on ensuring timely delivery of benefits to beneficiaries under various government schemes for the 2026–27 financial year. The Minister reviewed the progress of departmental programmes and assessed whether welfare benefits were reaching eligible citizens as scheduled.
Das directed officials to expedite the implementation of ongoing projects and ensure that government services reach people at the grassroots without unnecessary delays.
“We are committed to delivering government services efficiently and ensuring that schemes reach the grassroots without delay,” Das told reporters after the meeting.
Earlier in the day, the Minister attended the District Level National Science Seminar–2026 at Agni Veena Community Hall in Belonia. The programme was organised by the South Tripura District Education Department and brought together students and teachers.
Addressing the gathering, Das highlighted the importance of developing scientific temperament, innovation and creativity among students. He said such platforms provide young learners with an opportunity to showcase their knowledge and talent while encouraging them to explore new ideas.
He expressed hope that the seminar would help nurture the hidden potential of students and inspire the next generation of innovators.
Das also participated in a Birth Control and Anti-Rabies Vaccination Programme organised by the District Veterinary Hospital, South Tripura. He reiterated the government’s commitment to strengthening animal welfare and promoting responsible pet ownership.
The Minister stressed the importance of preventive veterinary care for pets and community health, while emphasising the need to make veterinary healthcare more accessible.
The day’s engagements reflected the administration’s broader focus on grassroots development, combining welfare delivery with educational initiatives and animal healthcare. Through the review meeting and participation in public programmes, Das emphasised the government’s efforts to improve service delivery and address the needs of communities across South Tripura.
