Agartala, April 3 — Director General of Police (DGP) Anurag chaired a crucial security review meeting at the Superintendent of Police (SP) Gomati office on Thursday, as part of heightened preparedness for the upcoming Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) elections.

The meeting was attended by senior police officials, including SP Gomati, SP South, and Commandants of the 5th and 14th Battalions of the Tripura State Rifles (TSR). The discussions focused on strengthening security arrangements, ensuring seamless inter-district coordination, and enhancing overall preparedness to conduct free, fair, and peaceful elections in the region.

During the review, the DGP emphasised the importance of intelligence gathering, area domination, and preventive measures in sensitive and vulnerable pockets. Officials were directed to intensify patrolling, maintain strict vigilance, and ensure rapid response mechanisms are in place to address any untoward incidents.

Special attention was given to coordination between district police, TSR units, and other security agencies deployed in the poll-bound areas. The leadership stressed the need for real-time communication and efficient deployment of forces to maintain law and order throughout the election period.

Following the meeting, the DGP visited the Killa Police Station to assess on-ground preparedness. During the visit, he interacted with field-level officers and personnel, taking stock of their readiness and addressing operational challenges. He encouraged officers to remain vigilant, professional, and responsive while discharging their duties.

The DGP also reviewed infrastructure, logistical arrangements, and the availability of necessary equipment at the police station. He underlined the importance of community engagement and urged officers to maintain close contact with local residents to build trust and ensure timely information flow.

The visit and review meeting come at a time when security forces are on high alert across Tripura in view of the upcoming TTAADC elections. The state police, along with TSR and other central forces, are working in coordination to ensure a secure environment for voters.

Authorities remain committed to upholding law and order, with robust measures being implemented to prevent any disruption during the electoral process.
