Anurag, Director General of Tripura Police, on Thursday conducted a comprehensive review of the security situation in Khowai and Dhalai districts in the run-up to the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) elections, emphasizing the administration’s commitment to ensuring peaceful and orderly polling.

The high-level review meeting was held at the office of the Superintendent of Police in Khowai and was attended by senior officials, including the Superintendents of Police from Khowai and Dhalai districts, along with commandants of various battalions of the Tripura State Rifles (TSR). The meeting focused on assessing the prevailing law and order situation and finalizing detailed strategies for security deployment in the days leading up to the elections.

Addressing officials, the DGP stated that the elections, scheduled for April 12, are being treated with utmost priority, and elaborate security arrangements have already been put in place. He stressed the importance of maintaining peace throughout all phases of the electoral process—before, during, and after polling.

“We are continuously reviewing the preparedness on the ground. Necessary measures will be taken to ensure that the entire election process remains peaceful,” he said, adding that security plans would be dynamically adjusted based on real-time assessments.

The DGP also confirmed that adequate personnel have been deployed across both districts. Regular monitoring mechanisms have been established to track developments and respond promptly to any emerging concerns. His visit aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of these arrangements and identify areas where further reinforcement might be required.

Highlighting the importance of a fair electoral environment, he noted that all political parties must be allowed to campaign freely without obstruction. “Candidates should have the space to reach out to voters without facing any hurdles,” he said.

He further assured that the police force would take all necessary steps to ensure that voters can exercise their democratic rights without fear, intimidation, or coercion on polling day.

The TTAADC elections will be held on April 12, with counting of votes scheduled for April 17.
