Agartala, March 25: Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha struck an emotional and relatable note during his campaign for the upcoming TTAADC elections when he made an unscheduled stop at Jeolcherra in the Atharomura hills to interact with tribal women selling vegetables by the roadside.

In a rare and heartfelt gesture, the Chief Minister stepped out of his convoy, engaged in a brief conversation with the vendors, and purchased fresh produce from them. The interaction drew attention for its simplicity and human touch, reflecting an effort to connect directly with grassroots communities. Later, Dr. Saha shared the moment on social media, describing it as “heartwarming” and linking it to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Vocal for Local’ initiative, which encourages citizens to support local products and small-scale sellers.

Highlighting the importance of tribal communities in the state’s socio-political landscape, the Chief Minister emphasized that their trust and confidence form the backbone of the Bharatiya Janata Party’s strength in the Autonomous District Council (ADC) areas. He reiterated that the BJP is committed to ensuring inclusive development and improving the quality of life for people living in these regions.

Dr. Saha asserted that the party remains a reliable force capable of delivering sustained development, particularly in remote and tribal-dominated areas. His outreach at Jeolcherra was seen as part of a broader strategy to strengthen bonds with indigenous communities ahead of the crucial elections.

Following the interaction, the Chief Minister proceeded to Longtharai Valley, where he attended nomination filing programmes of BJP candidates. In his presence, candidates Bipin Debbarma (Damchhara–Kachuchhara), Sukesh Dutta Barua (Manu–Chailengta), and Esmel Joy Tripura (Chawmanu) formally submitted their nomination papers.

The day’s developments highlighted BJP’s continued focus on grassroots engagement and its efforts to build strong connections with tribal voters. As the TTAADC elections approach, such initiatives are expected to play a key role in shaping the political narrative and influencing voter sentiment across the region.
