During the event, yarn was distributed to tribal women from five subdivisions to promote traditional weaving of Risha and Pachra, key elements of indigenous culture. The initiative aims to strengthen livelihoods while preserving heritage. Additionally, meritorious tribal students were honoured with certificates and financial incentives for their outstanding performance in secondary and higher secondary examinations.

Dr. Saha emphasised that empowering tribal women through skill development and promotion of traditional crafts remains a priority. He noted that these crafts have already received geo-tag recognition, boosting their market value and visibility. Stressing the need for balanced development, he said that education, healthcare, skill-building, and alternative employment opportunities are central to the government’s tribal welfare agenda.

Highlighting major initiatives, the Chief Minister announced a special package of Rs 800 crore for the socio-economic upliftment of the Reang community. He also revealed plans to distribute 500 electric autos in tribal areas to generate employment and promote sustainable livelihoods.

To strengthen educational infrastructure, the government will appoint 170 hostel superintendents, benefiting more than 34,000 tribal students currently residing in hostels across the state.

Tribal Welfare Minister Bikash Debbarma stated that the number of Eklavya Model Residential Schools in Tripura has increased significantly from four to 21, alongside construction of new hostels.

He added that schemes such as the Mukhyamantri Jan Bikash Yojana and the Rubber Mission Project are creating sustainable livelihood opportunities for tribal families, reinforcing inclusive growth.
