Acting on specific intelligence inputs, security personnel intercepted a TATA truck (AS-01T-C7674) near General Area Mungiakami. Upon thorough inspection of the vehicle, officials uncovered the massive consignment of banned Yaba tablets concealed inside. The seizure is considered one of the significant drug busts in the region in recent times.

The driver of the vehicle, identified as Hafijul Hoque (42), a resident of Udalguri district in Assam, was apprehended at the spot. Authorities immediately took him into custody for questioning. Both the seized contraband and the accused have since been handed over to the DRI for further investigation and initiation of legal proceedings under relevant provisions of the law.

Officials stated that the operation highlights the strong coordination and intelligence-sharing mechanism between the Assam Rifles and the DRI. The successful interception not only prevented a large quantity of narcotics from entering illegal distribution networks but also dealt a significant blow to organised drug syndicates operating in the Northeast.

Security agencies reiterated their commitment to intensifying surveillance and conducting joint operations along vulnerable routes frequently used for trafficking. They emphasized that sustained and coordinated enforcement efforts are essential to dismantle cross-border narcotics networks and protect communities from the growing menace of drug abuse.

Investigations are underway to trace the origin and intended destination of the seized consignment.
