A major ₹277.11 crore development initiative under the Tripura Rural Economic Growth and Service Delivery Project (TRESP) is gaining renewed momentum, with a sharp focus on strengthening livelihoods and economic opportunities in tribal-dominated regions of the state. Funded by the World Bank and implemented by the Tripura Rural Livelihood Mission (TRLM), the project primarily targets areas under the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC).

Progress of the ambitious project was reviewed during an Executive Committee meeting held on Monday, chaired by the Secretary of the Tribal Welfare Department. The meeting focused on ensuring effective utilization of funds, strengthening inter-departmental coordination, and achieving project objectives within stipulated timelines. Senior officials emphasized the importance of transparent monitoring systems and robust field-level implementation to ensure that benefits reach the intended communities.

TRLM Chief Executive Officer Tarit Kanti Chakma, IAS, along with senior departmental officials, participated in detailed discussions on improving execution strategies, addressing operational challenges, and enhancing outcome-based monitoring mechanisms. The project aims to improve rural infrastructure, promote livelihood diversification, and enhance access to services in remote and tribal areas.

In a parallel development, a separate review meeting was held on the implementation of the Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana (DDUGKY), a flagship skill development programme for rural youth. The session, led by CEO Chakma, was attended by Deputy CEO Subhabrata Bhattacharya, COO (Skills) Sankaraj Roy, and representatives from Technical Support Agencies (TSA) and NABCONS.

The review assessed the progress of skill training programmes, placement outcomes, and challenges faced in execution. Officials stressed the need for stronger coordination among stakeholders to improve training quality, align skills with market demand, and enhance sustainable employment opportunities for rural and tribal youth.

Together, the two high-level review sessions reflected the Tripura government’s commitment to inclusive and equitable growth through the effective implementation of World Bank–assisted and centrally sponsored schemes. With a strong focus on tribal welfare, livelihood generation, and skill development, the state is working towards building a resilient rural economy and ensuring long-term socio-economic empowerment of its underserved communities.
