During the interaction, the Union Minister and the Governor exchanged views on a range of issues related to urban development, housing, and overall socio-economic progress. While the meeting was primarily a courtesy call, it also provided an opportunity to discuss the importance of coordinated efforts between the Union Government and the State administration for the effective implementation of flagship programmes in the housing and urban affairs sector.

Governor Indra Sena Reddy Nallu welcomed Shri Tokhan Sahu to Tripura and appreciated the initiatives undertaken by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs aimed at improving urban infrastructure, affordable housing, and quality of life for citizens. The Governor highlighted the unique developmental needs of northeastern states and emphasized the importance of inclusive and sustainable urban growth, particularly in smaller cities and towns.

Union Minister Tokhan Sahu briefed the Governor on various initiatives of the Government of India in the areas of urban housing, sanitation, and urban infrastructure development. He reiterated the Centre’s commitment to supporting states, including Tripura, in achieving the objectives of programmes such as affordable housing for all, improved urban amenities, and enhanced civic services. The Minister underlined that effective collaboration with state governments is key to ensuring timely and impactful delivery of these initiatives at the grassroots level.

The discussion also touched upon the role of urban local bodies in strengthening governance and service delivery, as well as the need for capacity building and efficient utilization of resources. Both dignitaries emphasized that development efforts should remain people-centric, transparent, and focused on long-term sustainability.

The courtesy call concluded on a positive note, with both sides expressing confidence that continued dialogue and cooperation between the Union Government and the State would contribute significantly to Tripura’s development journey. The meeting underscored the shared commitment of the Centre and the State leadership to work together for inclusive growth, improved urban infrastructure, and enhanced living standards for the people.

Such interactions, officials noted, play an important role in strengthening institutional relationships and ensuring better coordination in policy implementation for the benefit of citizens.
