The programme was formally inaugurated by local MLA Pinaki Das Choudhury in the presence of Ashish Sarkar, Officer-in-Charge of Kalyanpur Police Station, social worker Nitai Bal and several other dignitaries. Panchayat members and a large number of beneficiaries were also present at the event.

During the programme, essential items and official documents were handed over to beneficiaries under different schemes. To ensure access to safe drinking water, water filters were distributed to several families. In addition, water refreshers were installed at key public institutions, including Kalyanpur Higher Secondary School, the Madhya Kalyanpur Panchayat Office and Kuchpara Primary School.

The Panchayat also distributed trade licenses, job cards and dustbins to eligible residents, aiming to promote livelihood opportunities, employment security and cleanliness in the area. All initiatives under the programme were funded through the Panchayat Development Fund, reflecting the local body’s commitment to grassroots development.

Addressing the gathering, MLA Pinaki Das Choudhury spoke about the changing nature of governance and service delivery. He said that prior to 2018, many people were compelled to depend on political affiliations or make repeated visits to leaders’ homes to access government facilities. “Today, people are receiving government benefits beyond politics, in a transparent manner, without any unnecessary hurdles,” he remarked.

The MLA further reflected on the vision of India’s freedom fighters, stating that their dream was to ensure democratic rights and dignity for every citizen. He claimed that for many decades these rights remained largely unfulfilled, but significant changes have taken place since 2014 under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

“People are now experiencing the true meaning of independence, as welfare schemes are reaching them directly,” Choudhury said, while alleging that previous governments had failed to respect the will and aspirations of the common people.
