Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha on Sunday welcomed the Union Budget 2026, stating that it is built on three major pillars—last-mile delivery, inclusive progress, and infrastructure development—aimed at ensuring balanced and sustainable growth across the country.
In his initial reaction, Dr Saha highlighted the Finance Minister’s announcement of a new Buddhist Circuit for the North East, which he said would significantly benefit states such as Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Sikkim, Tripura, and Assam. “The tourism industry is set to witness a major boost. Increased footfall to this region will definitely have a positive impact on the economy,” he said.
While noting that he was yet to study the entire Budget in detail, the Chief Minister described the proposals as “satisfactory and forward-looking,” particularly in key sectors like health, education, and agriculture. He said the Budget promises income enhancement for every household and places strong emphasis on artificial intelligence and the infusion of new technology.
“At the face of it, this is a welfare-centric and future-oriented Budget that offers a brighter roadmap for development,” Dr Saha observed.
Elaborating further, he reiterated that the Budget rests on three core pillars—infrastructure development, Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas (inclusive growth), and last-mile delivery. He welcomed the announcement of e-bus services for the North East and said adequate importance has been given to youth and women empowerment. The Chief Minister also noted that the MSME sector stands to gain significantly from the Budget’s provisions.
Earlier, in a social media post, Dr Saha said the Budget spans manufacturing, world-class infrastructure, healthcare, tourism, rural empowerment, cutting-edge AI, sports infrastructure, and pilgrimage destinations. “This Budget ignites the aspirations of youth, women, and farmers, transforming dreams into reality and strengthening the foundation of a self-reliant, globally competitive India,” he wrote.
Dr Saha also congratulated Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman for presenting the Budget.
