Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Wednesday announced that Union Minister for Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER) Jyotiraditya Scindia will visit the state on January 23 to review ongoing tourism-related projects and inaugurate new initiatives aimed at boosting the sector.
Addressing reporters after attending an official programme, the Chief Minister said the Union Minister’s visit would focus on assessing the progress of tourism projects currently under implementation across the state. “His visit will include field inspections of various tourism projects. Foundation stones for a couple of new initiatives will also be laid during his stay. The concerned departments will share the detailed itinerary and project information separately,” Dr. Saha said.
The Chief Minister highlighted that tourism remains a key focus area for the state government, particularly in leveraging Tripura’s rich cultural heritage, historical sites, and natural beauty to generate employment and strengthen the local economy. He added that the review by the DoNER Minister would help accelerate the implementation of central schemes and ensure better coordination between the Centre and the state.
Dr. Saha also spoke about recent organisational developments within the Bharatiya Janata Party. He said the party follows a standard three-year term for the election of its national president, and Nitin Nabin has been appointed to the post for the current term. The Chief Minister revealed that he has personally invited Nabin to visit Tripura in his capacity as the BJP’s national president.
According to Dr. Saha, during his interaction with Nitin Nabin, key organisational issues were discussed, and clear guidelines were issued to strengthen the party at the grassroots and primary levels. He noted that the newly elected national president has already visited several parts of the North East as part of organisational outreach and has expressed his willingness to visit Tripura as well.
“The party will continue to function strictly in accordance with the directions and guidelines issued by the national leadership,” the Chief Minister said, adding that strengthening the organisation at the booth and grassroots levels remains a top priority.
Dr. Saha expressed confidence that both the upcoming ministerial visit and organisational efforts would contribute positively to Tripura’s development and political consolidation.
