Agartala, December 13 — A day after Tipra Motha supremo Pradyot Kishore Debbarma predicted a sweeping victory for his party in the upcoming Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) elections, Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha countered the claim, asserting that the increasing participation of indigenous communities in the BJP reflects the real direction of the electoral outcome.

Speaking to journalists after a massive joining programme organised by the BJP’s Janajati Morcha in Agartala, Dr. Saha said that thousands of indigenous people are aligning with the BJP because of their faith in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s development-oriented governance. “Their aspiration to be part of Viksit Bharat, New India, and a united Tripura is driving them towards the BJP,” he stated. The party claimed that nearly 5,000 voters from various political parties, including Tipra Motha, joined the BJP at the event.

When asked about the likely results of the TTAADC elections scheduled for early 2026, Dr. Saha said the massive gathering itself showcased public confidence. “Indigenous people have immense trust in us because we neither mislead nor deceive. Their enthusiasm clearly reflects the outcome,” he added.

Issuing a caution without naming anyone, Dr. Saha warned against attempts to disrupt peace. “We believe in affection, not force. But if someone tries to take undue advantage and create unrest, necessary action will be taken to maintain peace,” he said.

Responding to repeated political challenges from Pradyot Kishore Debbarma, the Chief Minister said political statements were part of democracy but warned against any physical provocation.

In his address, Dr. Saha praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah for their focus on the welfare and development of indigenous communities. Confident about the BJP’s rising support base, he claimed the party would win all 28 TTAADC seats and all 20 ST-reserved Assembly constituencies.

The event was attended by several senior BJP leaders, including state BJP president Rajib Bhattacharjee, Ministers Santana Chakma, Bikas Debbarma, Sushanta Chowdhury, Tinku Roy, former MP Rebati Tripura, and BJP general secretary Bipin Debbarma.
