Udaipur, Nov 24: Udaipur came alive with patriotic fervor on Monday as the district-level ‘Sardar@150 Unity March’ was held to commemorate the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. The march began at the District Sports Office and culminated at the revered Matabari temple, drawing enthusiastic participation from citizens, officials, and local leaders.
State Finance Minister Pranajit Singha Roy led the rally, highlighting Patel’s monumental role in unifying a fragmented India post-Independence. Addressing the gathering, he emphasized that the Unity March reflects the nation’s deep respect for Patel and his statesmanship. “This march reinforces the ideals of national unity and collective progress. By taking part, we renew our commitment to building a united and stronger India,” he said.
Singha Roy also invoked Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s tribute to Patel through the creation of the Statue of Unity, the tallest statue in the world, symbolizing the Iron Man’s vision of harmony and cohesion. He added that Patel remains a guiding force for nation-building efforts across generations.
The event saw robust participation from several dignitaries, including Zilla Sabhadhipati Debal Deb Roy, MLA Abhishek Debroy, and noted social worker Sabita Nag. Senior district and subdivision-level officers also joined the march, underscoring a shared commitment to uphold the nation’s unity and constitutional values.
Participants walked in unison carrying banners and slogans echoing Patel’s message of strength through unity. The march not only celebrated the legacy of one of India’s greatest leaders but also fostered a sense of shared responsibility among residents of the district.
