The Tripura Pradesh Congress Committee on Wednesday held a press conference at the Pradesh Congress Bhavan, where Pradesh spokesperson Prabir Chakraborty launched a sharp attack on the BJP-led central and state governments. Addressing the media, Chakraborty alleged that since the beginning of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s tenure in 2014, the country has witnessed continuous frauds, irregularities, and deception. He claimed that the Modi government has been misleading the citizens on multiple fronts.
Chakraborty strongly criticized the Centre over the demonetisation policy, stating that the move failed to achieve its primary objectives and instead caused immense hardship to common people. He particularly emphasized that the government failed to curb terrorism even after demonetisation, contrary to what was promised.
The Congress spokesperson also raised concerns regarding alleged irregularities in banks in Tripura, referring to recent allegations made by Hafiz. He accused the state government of remaining silent and failing to address the issue transparently.
The party further questioned the “Operation Sindoor” initiative, demanding clarity and accountability from the government. Chakraborty also criticised the Prime Minister for his response to the recent Delhi blast incident, remarking that the government has failed to maintain national security.
Throughout the press conference, the Congress leadership accused the BJP of misgovernance, anti-people decisions, and suppressing democratic values. They reiterated that the ruling party has not fulfilled its promises and continues to divert attention from real issues through misleading narratives.
Several senior leaders were present at the briefing, including Ashok Baidya, Chairman of the Kisan Congress and former MLA; Manoranjan Debnath, Chairman of the OBC Department; and Satyajit Bhowmik, Social Media Chairman. They supported Chakraborty’s statements and collectively demanded greater transparency and accountability from both the central and state governments.
The Congress concluded by asserting that they will continue to raise their voice against injustice and stand by the people of Tripura.
