Agartala, Nov 11 — In a major effort to boost Tripura’s tourism visibility, Minister for Tourism Sushanta Chowdhury met with former Indian cricket captain and Tripura’s tourism brand ambassador Sourav Ganguly at his Behala residence in Kolkata on Tuesday.
The meeting focused on enhancing the reach of Tripura’s tourism campaigns and strengthening promotional collaborations with Ganguly, who has been instrumental in projecting the state as an emerging destination for travelers. During the cordial discussion, Minister Chowdhury extended a formal invitation to Ganguly to attend the grand closing ceremony of “Promo Fest 2025”, scheduled for December 12 at Swami Vivekananda Maidan in Agartala.
The much-anticipated event will serve as the culmination of a state-wide tourism promotion initiative, featuring cultural performances, exhibitions, adventure showcases, and interactive sessions aimed at highlighting Tripura’s heritage, natural beauty, and growing tourism infrastructure.
Chowdhury emphasized that Ganguly’s presence at the festival’s finale would greatly enhance the event’s national visibility and further strengthen Tripura’s image as a vibrant and hospitable destination. “Sourav Ganguly’s association with our tourism campaign has already given Tripura a strong identity. His participation in Promo Fest will inspire confidence among tourists and stakeholders alike,” the minister said.
Ganguly, who expressed his appreciation for the state’s tourism progress, assured his continued support to promote Tripura as a promising travel destination.
Minister Chowdhury reiterated the government’s commitment to positioning Tripura as a key tourism hub in the Northeast through creative branding, public engagement, and partnerships with influential figures like Ganguly. “Our vision is to make Tripura’s tourism story resonate across India and beyond,” he added.
