Agartala, Nov 11 — In a significant push to boost Tripura’s tourism potential, Minister for Transport and Tourism Sushanta Chowdhury held a high-level meeting on Tuesday with senior officials of NICCO Park in Kolkata to explore collaborative opportunities for developing a world-class eco-tourism and adventure tourism destination in the state.
The discussion centered on establishing an integrated eco-adventure and water park project at Sachindranagar Colony in Jirania, inspired by the successful model of Kolkata’s iconic NICCO Park. The proposed facility aims to combine environmental sustainability with modern entertainment, creating a unique blend of nature-based recreation and adventure tourism.
Minister Chowdhury described the initiative as part of the state government’s broader vision to position Tripura as an emerging destination on the global tourism map. “Our goal is to create large-scale employment opportunities for local youth and make Tripura an attractive destination for both domestic and international travelers,” he said.
The upcoming project will feature eco-friendly infrastructure and a wide range of adventure and leisure activities designed to appeal to families, tourists, and thrill-seekers alike. Officials believe the venture will not only enhance Tripura’s tourism appeal but also stimulate local economic growth, promote entrepreneurship, and strengthen community-based tourism initiatives.
Chowdhury reiterated the government’s commitment to sustainable tourism development, emphasizing innovation and inclusivity as key drivers of the sector’s growth. “The Tourism Department will continue to pursue strategic collaborations and environmentally responsible projects to accelerate Tripura’s transformation into a vibrant tourism hub,” he stated.
The meeting with NICCO Park officials marks a major step toward realizing Tripura’s long-term vision of integrating entertainment, ecology, and employment through transformative tourism infrastructure.
