Agartala, Oct 7: A high-level delegation of the All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) is scheduled to visit Tripura on Wednesday to inspect the party’s state headquarters, which came under attack on Tuesday during a BJP protest rally in Agartala.
Confirming the visit, AITC spokesperson Kunal Ghosh told journalists that he would lead the delegation to assess the situation and review the extent of damage caused during the incident. “We are deeply concerned about the attack on our party office in Tripura. I will personally visit the site along with other senior leaders to take stock of the situation,” Ghosh said.
He added that the party would soon announce the full list of delegation members. However, party sources indicated that AITC leaders Sudip Raha, Sayoni Ghosh, and Pratima Mandal are likely to accompany Ghosh on the visit. The delegation is also expected to meet party workers and local leaders to discuss the next course of action following the incident.
On Tuesday, tension broke out when a section of BJP supporters, participating in a protest rally, allegedly attacked the Trinamool office in the Motor Stand area of Agartala. Although the situation was quickly brought under control by senior BJP leaders, the AITC condemned the attack as a “blatant assault on democracy.”
In a statement on social media, the Trinamool Congress alleged that the attack reflected the BJP’s attempt to suppress the opposition through intimidation and violence. “They may damage offices or tear posters, but they cannot destroy our resolve,” the party posted on X.
The AITC delegation’s visit aims to express solidarity with the Tripura unit, ensure morale among local workers, and send a strong message against political violence in the state.
