Agartala, August 24: In a spirited initiative to champion youth wellness and combat substance abuse, Swarnakamal Jewellers organized a vibrant city marathon titled “The Golden Run” in Agartala. The event witnessed overwhelming participation from young men and women across Tripura, all united by a shared vision of health, fitness, and a drug-free lifestyle.
The marathon was flagged off in the presence of Tripura’s Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports, Tinku Roy, along with the owner and representatives of Swarnakamal Jewellers. The event aimed not only to encourage physical activity but also to highlight the importance of social responsibility and community engagement.
Addressing the gathering, Minister Roy praised the growing culture of fitness in India, attributing much of its momentum to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s emphasis on health and wellness. “Under PM Modi’s visionary leadership, sports and sportspersons are finally getting the recognition they deserve,” he said.
Roy also announced that the Tripura Sports Department will organize a state-level marathon on August 29, 2025, in celebration of National Sports Day. This, he said, is part of the government’s continued commitment to fostering athletic excellence and youth empowerment in the state.
Highlighting the progress in Tripura’s sports infrastructure, Roy noted the establishment of two international-standard athletic tracks, improved training facilities, and notable achievements in disciplines like Judo and Karate. He emphasized the state’s support for athletes at both junior and senior levels.
“More than just infrastructure, sports are being used as a strategic means to steer youth away from addiction and toward discipline and purpose,” he added.
The Minister expressed gratitude to Swarnakamal Jewellers for organizing the marathon, praising their role in fostering a healthier, united, and more resilient Tripura.
