Agartala: August 20: Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has informed Parliament that four key railway stations in Tripura—Agartala, Dharmanagar, Kumarghat, and Udaipur—have been selected for development under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme. This was stated by former Chief Minister and current Lok Sabha MP Biplab Kumar Deb on Wednesday.

The scheme, aimed at long-term modernization of railway stations across India, focuses on improving passenger amenities, infrastructure, and overall services. According to Deb, the Union Minister highlighted that railway development under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership has advanced nearly 6.5 times faster compared to the UPA era.

Sharing the latest updates on the ongoing works in Tripura, Deb said that in Agartala station, lift installation has already been completed, while construction of a 12-metre foot over bridge and station building is underway.

At Dharmanagar station, several works including platform shelters, approach road, and boundary wall have been completed. Development of the circulating area, a 12-metre foot over bridge, and installation of an escalator have also been initiated.

In Kumarghat station, work is progressing on a new 12-metre foot over bridge, circulating area, approach road, waiting hall, and platform shelter.

Similarly, at Udaipur station, projects currently underway include construction of a 12-metre foot over bridge, waiting hall, and upgraded toilet facilities.

The Amrit Bharat Station Scheme is expected to transform these stations into modern transit hubs with enhanced facilities, benefiting thousands of daily passengers. Officials believe the project will significantly improve connectivity, passenger experience, and boost overall development in the state.
