Agartala: May 07: A civil defense mock drill was carried out simultaneously across all eight districts of Tripura at 3:30 PM, aligning with a nationwide emergency preparedness exercise. In Agartala, the drill was conducted at Umakanta School, showcasing various disaster response and preparedness measures.
As part of the drill, sirens were sounded near the Chief Minister’s residence, signaling different phases of the exercise. Additionally, according to administrative directives, electricity services in Agartala will be temporarily suspended from 5:30 PM to 5:40 PM as part of the procedure. The Tripura State Electricity Corporation Limited has issued a public advisory regarding this temporary disruption.
The primary objective of the drill is to evaluate the state’s readiness in handling potential emergencies, including enemy attacks, natural disasters, and human-induced crises. Authorities are assessing alert systems, evacuation procedures, emergency rescue operations, and the restoration of essential services. The Disaster Management Authority and Civil Defense Corps are leading the efforts, supported by police, fire services, medical teams, and other emergency response units.
West Tripura District Magistrate Dr. Vishal Kumar confirmed that the drill in Agartala is being conducted at Umakanta School with participation from NCC cadets, Tripura State Rifles, Home Guards, Apada Mitra volunteers, medical teams, and Tripura Fire & Emergency Services.

Dr. Kumar further stated that the drill is scheduled to run from 3:30 PM to 6:30 PM, with sirens being sounded at 4:00 PM and 5:30 PM to signify different phases of the exercise. Authorities have urged the public not to panic and to cooperate during the drill, emphasizing its importance in strengthening the state’s disaster response capabilities.
