Agartala: April 01: On Tuesday, Tripura’s Finance Minister Pranajit Singha Roy assured the Legislative Assembly that the state government is committed to filling vacant posts with full transparency. Responding to a query by Congress MLA Sudip Roy Barman, the finance minister revealed that the Finance Department has given approval for the recruitment of 12,338 vacant posts across various departments, a process that is currently underway.

Minister Singha Roy provided detailed figures, stating that 6,009 new posts were created in the last two years, contributing to the government’s efforts to reduce the staffing gap. He also highlighted that between the financial years 2018-19 and 2024-25, 31,056 posts were left vacant due to retirements, excluding 6,779 Group-D vacancies. These vacancies span across Group-A, Group-B, and Group-C categories.

He further noted that since the present government took office, 17,554 vacant posts have been filled, including those under the “die-in-harness” scheme and cadre services. From 2018-19 to 2024-25, 1,540 individuals were employed under the die-in-harness scheme, reflecting the government’s focus on providing jobs to the next of kin of deceased employees.

Among the approved recruitments, the Finance Department has sanctioned the hiring of 16 super-specialist doctors, 172 specialist doctors, and 400 Assistant Professors. Additionally, 218 Sub-Inspectors, 433 Agricultural Assistants, 125 Amin Posts, and 28 Forest Ranger positions are also part of the ongoing recruitment process. The Minister also mentioned that the process for filling 200 Junior Engineer (Degree) positions is in progress.

This move reflects the government’s commitment to addressing staffing shortages in key sectors, particularly in education, healthcare, and law enforcement, ensuring that public services continue to function effectively while maintaining transparency in recruitment.
