Agartala: The weather department has issued a heatwave warning for the next three days across Tripura, with a yellow alert declared for all districts. The warning comes as a result of a combination of factors, including partially cloudy skies, high solar radiation, and the transport of hot westerly winds, which are expected to cause a significant rise in daytime temperatures. Some districts may experience temperatures reaching 36 degrees Celsius or higher, accompanied by increased humidity in certain areas.

To protect the public from the adverse effects of the heatwave, the weather department has recommended several precautionary measures. Residents are advised to avoid direct exposure to the sun, especially during peak hours. Staying hydrated is crucial, and people are urged to drink plenty of water, even if they do not feel thirsty. It is also suggested to wear lightweight, light-colored, and breathable cotton clothing to minimize heat absorption and allow for better ventilation.

Additional precautions include the use of protective eyewear to shield against harmful UV rays and carrying water while traveling outdoors. Consuming rehydrating drinks such as oral rehydration salts (ORS), lassi, torani (rice water), lemon water, and buttermilk is also recommended to help replenish lost fluids and electrolytes.

The department has emphasized that following these guidelines is essential to safeguard health during the heatwave. The public is urged to stay indoors as much as possible, particularly during the hottest parts of the day, and take all necessary steps to avoid heat-related illnesses such as heat stroke or dehydration.
