Agartala: Mar 21: In a significant move aimed at advancing higher education in Tripura, the state government has decided to upgrade the Women’s College to a Women’s University. This decision is expected to provide better educational opportunities and empower women in the region, contributing to their social and economic upliftment. The upgrade will not only enhance the infrastructure and academic offerings but also focus on fostering a more inclusive and women-centric academic environment. The new Women’s University will play a pivotal role in nurturing talent and leadership among women, helping them contribute more effectively to society.
In addition to this, the Tripura Institute of Technology (TIT) will also be elevated to the status of a State Technical University. This upgrade is set to boost technical education in the state, providing students with a more comprehensive and advanced curriculum, while also fostering research and innovation in the field of technology. The transformation into a technical university will strengthen the state’s position as a hub for technical education and research, helping students access world-class resources and opportunities.
Furthermore, the state government has also approved the opening of three new degree colleges in Ambassa, Kakraban, and Karbook. These new institutions are part of the government’s initiative to make higher education more accessible to students in remote and underserved areas of Tripura.
