Agartala: Mar 11: In a significant bust, the police of Kailashahar police station have apprehended two youths in possession of brown sugar, along with a seized bike. The two suspects were brought before the Kailashahar court on Tuesday afternoon following their arrest. This operation was carried out after the police received a tip-off from a confidential informant, prompting the officers to set up a surprise operation at a naka point in the Chinibagan area late at night.

According to Kailashahar police station’s Officer-in-Charge (OC), Sukanta Sen Chowdhury, the police were strategically positioned at the naka point in anticipation of the suspects. At around 2 am, the two youths were spotted approaching the checkpoint on a motorcycle. Upon stopping them, the police conducted a search, during which they discovered brown sugar neatly concealed inside five soap boxes. The illicit drug was seized, and the youths were promptly arrested for possessing and attempting to transport it.

The police further revealed that the estimated market value of the brown sugar recovered from the soap boxes is around four lakh taka. This substantial seizure underscores the increasing concerns surrounding drug trafficking in the region, particularly the smuggling of brown sugar. Legal proceedings have already been initiated against the arrested individuals, with the authorities promising to take appropriate action in accordance with the law.

OC Sukanta Sen Chowdhury expressed satisfaction over the success of the operation, emphasizing the importance of maintaining vigilance and taking swift action against illegal activities. This operation highlights the effectiveness of police intelligence work and the ongoing efforts to combat drug-related crimes in the region.
