Agartala: Feb 27: In a successful anti-drug operation, Lefunga Police Station, along with Bamutia Police Outpost, arrested a notorious drug dealer, Uttam Biswas, from the South Rangutia area of Rangutia village. The operation, led by Lefunga Police Station OC Sahadev Das and Bamutia Outpost OC Anthony Jamatia, was carried out with the assistance of a large police force. According to reports, the police had received secret information about the illegal activities of Uttam Biswas, prompting them to lay a trap.
The arrest became even more dramatic when Bamutia Outpost OC Anthony Jamatia, in civilian attire, chased down the drug dealer through muddy terrain, showcasing a level of determination reminiscent of a “Singham-style” pursuit. The police were able to corner Biswas, and during a search, recovered 11.21 grams of brown sugar from his possession.
Following the arrest, OC Sahadev Das briefed the media, confirming that a case had been filed against Uttam Biswas under specific sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. He also mentioned that an investigation into Biswas’s activities would continue. Biswas is expected to be presented in court later today.
The operation was a significant success for local law enforcement in the fight against drug trafficking in the region. By apprehending a notorious drug dealer like Uttam Biswas, the police have made a substantial contribution toward curbing the illegal drug trade in Bamutia and surrounding areas. However, authorities have warned that this operation is only one step in a broader ongoing effort to combat drug-related crime and ensure the safety of the community.
