Agartala: Feb 12: A tribal youth named Mankima Riang, aged 29, was murdered at the Gouinong Para Bru camp in the Karbook subdivision, causing widespread panic in the area. Upon receiving information, police from Natanbazar Police Station, along with Karbook subdivision SDPO Gamanjoy Riang and the Gomati district police superintendent, swiftly arrived at the scene.
The deceased’s wife has alleged that Mankima Riang was brutally beaten to death by miscreants. Acting on this claim, the Natanbazar police initiated an investigation. Three suspects were initially detained, and after further investigation by the Gomati district SP and a large police team, two more individuals were apprehended. The five detainees are Banijya Riang, Lalngma Riang, Lochima Riang, Kuphuria Debbarma, and Bipul Debbarma.
The bloodied body of Mankima Riang was discovered on Wednesday, which created widespread unease in the Gouinong Para Bru camp. Following the recovery of the body, it was sent to the Natanbazar morgue for an autopsy. A sense of grief has gripped the entire camp due to this tragic incident. The police investigation is ongoing, and it remains to be seen what further details will emerge.
