Agartala: Dec 16: The role of agriculture is crucial in making Tripura self-reliant. This was emphasized by the state’s Agriculture Minister, Ratan Lal Nath, during the inauguration of the *Krishi Svarn Samriddhi* week and the Rabi Agriculture Science Fair at the Khowai District Agricultural Science Center.
Minister Nath stated that the *Krishi Svarn Samriddhi* week celebrations are being organized at Agricultural Science Centers across the state, with the event taking place in Khowai as well. Tomorrow, the event will be held in Unakoti district. The main objective of these celebrations is to explore ways to further enrich farmers and double their incomes. He highlighted the limited agricultural land in Tripura and emphasized the importance of using modern, science-based farming methods to improve productivity.
The Agricultural Science Centers, according to Nath, are dedicated to providing comprehensive support to farmers. He expressed confidence that, with the help of these centers, farmers could significantly increase their income by utilizing advanced seeds and technologies.
He also mentioned that the Agriculture Department is closely examining how farming practices can be improved in the future. He called for unity, urging people from all walks of life to come together to contribute to the development of the state, irrespective of political differences.
The event was attended by several dignitaries, including District Council Chairperson Aparna Singh Roy, MLA Ranjit Debbarma, and the President of All Tripura Farmers’ Club, Pradeep Barman Roy, along with other local representatives.
