Agartala: Dec 15: The Shantir Bazar police have arrested five young men in connection with the alleged gang rape of a minor girl.
According to the complaint filed by the girl’s family at the Shantir Bazar police station on Saturday, five young men, including one who abducted the girl from her home and took her to a rubber plantation in the Paikhola Mahondahira area, subjected her to a brutal sexual assault throughout the night.
The girl returned home on Sunday and narrated the entire incident to her family. The family filed a written complaint against the five youths at the Monpathor outpost under Shantir Bazar police station.
Upon receiving the complaint, the OC of Monpathor outpost, Jayanta Das, and the OC of Shantir Bazar police station, Ashutosh Sharma, began investigating the incident.
Within a short time of filing the complaint, the police managed to arrest the five youths involved in the incident. On Sunday, after completing all legal formalities, the five accused were sent to the Bilonia District and Sessions Court.
The accused in the case are Shaktiray Riang (18), Nibash Tripura (19), Subhas Riang (19), Lakshmi Dhan Tripura (18), and Jibon Tripura (21), said Shantir Bazar police station OC Ashutosh Sharma.
