Agartala: Dec 14: Sudip Ray Barman, a legislator from Congress, has accused the BJP government of attempting to distort history and create a new narrative. He alleges that the BJP has made derogatory remarks about India’s first Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru, who was a key leader of the Indian independence movement. Barman made these statements during a press interaction after a significant meeting held at the Pradesh Congress Bhavan to strengthen the Seva Dal organization.
Nityagopal Rudra Pal, the Seva Dal Convenor, informed the press that the Seva Dal will organize state-level training camps in the coming days. These camps will be held outside Agartala city, focusing on enhancing the capabilities of the members. Barman further asserted that the BJP is involved in a conspiracy to distort history, with Congress and its Seva Dal playing an important role in defending the true history. According to Barman, Congress has always been associated with service, working closely with the people, especially the poor, underprivileged, and marginalized communities.
Barman also accused the BJP of trying to undermine the Constitution by attempting to strip away rights from minorities, Scheduled Castes, and Scheduled Tribes. He claimed that the BJP was transferring government employment opportunities to contractors, thereby preventing these communities from availing of reserved seats. Additionally, he criticized the BJP for launching the “Bharat Khodai Abhiyan” (India Carving Campaign), a project aimed at dividing people along religious lines. According to Barman, this initiative is designed to create an unstable environment in the country, leading to division and hatred, similar to the current situation in neighboring Bangladesh. He argues that this is part of a broader agenda to spread communal discord for electoral gains.
