Agartala: Dec 05: BSF jawans have seized gold worth Rs. 1.71 crore during a smuggling operation at the border based on secret intelligence. The smuggler could not be apprehended in this operation. This news has been announced in a press release from the BSF headquarters.
The statement said that on December 4th, around 8:45 PM, BSF jawans of the 81st battalion were stationed at NC Nagar border area based on specific information. At that time, BSF jawans noticed suspicious activity in the border area. When they tried to apprehend the smugglers, they managed to escape into the deep jungle in the Assam-adjacent area. However, the BSF seized 2.180 kilograms of gold from the border area. This smuggled gold was in the form of bars and biscuits. Its market value is Rs. 1.71 crore. BSF jawans have handed over this gold to customs for further legal action.
The BSF headquarters has announced that such operations will continue in the future.
