Agartala: Dec 01: An Indian woman from Sonamura Shubhapur was abducted by miscreants from the Biribazar immigration checkpoint while returning home from her relatives’ place in Bangladesh. According to the incident report, Fatema Khatun, wife of Sadek Mia from Shubhapur area under Sonamura police station, went to visit her relatives in Kothbari Raichara, Bangladesh on November 27, 2024, with a passport and visa. She had a dispute with some local people at her relatives’ place last night, which escalated into an attack.

Seeing this situation, Fatema Khatun of Sonamura Shobhapur, while returning to her own home this morning, was abducted from inside the Biribazar checkpoint in Bangladesh by three miscreants led by Russell Mia, Saidul Islam, and Suman Mia of Sahapur, Bangladesh, as alleged by the family of the abductee. Despite the presence of BGB, customs, and police from Bangladesh at that time, the miscreants abducted her, according to the allegation. The Bangladesh administration did not take any action.

When this news reached Sadek Mia, husband of Fatema Khatun of Sonamura Shobhapur, and their son Parvez, they hurriedly filed a complaint with Sonamura police station against all the miscreants. The abduction of an Indian citizen from Bangladesh legally has raised questions among the sensible people. Even after going to Bangladesh with a passport and visa, there is no security for Indian citizens.
