Agartala: Nov 26: Adivasi Lives Matter (ALM) successfully conducted the “Adivasi Awaaz” digital storytelling training from November 21st to 23rd, 2024, at the Press Club in Agartala. This three-day training aimed to equip Adivasi youth with practical skills in digital content creation, focusing on photography, videography, article writing, social media management, and content design. The program sought to empower participants by giving them the tools to preserve and promote Adivasi identity, culture, and language through digital platforms.

Facilitators Ashish Birulee and Nitesh Mahto, both from Jharkhand, led the sessions, sharing their expertise in digital content creation. The training emphasized the importance of using digital media to advocate for Adivasi rights and heritage. The program was enriched by the contributions of alumni Kamal Jamatia, Prakash Debbarma, Uday Debbarma, and Elija Jamatia, who assisted in various aspects of the training, offering valuable insights and guidance.

Around 20 tribal youth from the region participated in the event, gaining hands-on experience and knowledge in creating digital content that reflects their cultural narratives. The training not only enhanced the participants’ technical skills but also fostered cultural exchange and a deeper understanding of the potential of digital media in advancing Adivasi advocacy.

Adivasi Lives Matter, founded in 2016 by Ashish Birulee, Ankush Vengurlekar, and Isha Chitnis, is a platform dedicated to celebrating and preserving Adivasi/Tribal identity and culture. ALM has already trained over 400 creators across India, resulting in more than 1,200 articles and 3,000 videos. This marks the sixth edition of the “Adivasi Awaaz Training” held in Tripura, continuing ALM’s mission to empower tribal youth and amplify their voices in the digital age.
