The IG briefed the MP on the current security situation along the India-Bangladesh border, highlighting the proactive measures taken by the BSF to tackle any potential threats. He assured the MP that BSF troops are on high alert, particularly in light of the ongoing situation in Bangladesh. The BSF has successfully thwarted numerous infiltration attempts this year, apprehending 571 Bangladeshi nationals and 52 Rohingya individuals so far. Additionally, 52 touts involved in cross-border illegal activities have been arrested.

The IG also emphasized the BSF’s continued crackdown on smuggling and narcotics trafficking, revealing that goods and narcotics worth Rs. 87 crore have been seized this year alone. These efforts are part of the BSF’s broader commitment to maintaining peace and security along the international border.

Moreover, the IG highlighted several welfare initiatives undertaken by the BSF, including pre-recruitment training programs for border youth, medical camps in remote villages, and the establishment of skill development centers. The distribution of sports equipment and other essential items has had a positive impact on the local population.

Maharani Debbarma expressed her appreciation for the efforts of the BSF, particularly the work of the BSF Wives Welfare Association (BWWA) in empowering women and encouraging local women to join the force.
