Agartala: Oct 07: Immediately after the police and paramilitary forces concluded their road march, a tense situation erupted once again in Kadamtala. Two shops in the market, along with bicycles and cars, were vandalized.
Incidentally, yesterday afternoon, members of the Indian Club adjacent to the Kadamtala block were collecting puja donations on the Churaybari-Kadamtala road. At that time, a car was on its way to another state with a patient. The puja committee members demanded Rs. 5,000 from the car driver. The car driver refused to pay such a large amount. Allegedly, the club members beat up the Muslim driver for refusing to pay. Additionally, there are allegations of them snatching the mobiles of the passengers in the car.
In retaliation, some men and women from the area came to the club and entered nearby houses, assaulting men, women, and even children. The matter quickly spread. At the same time, two Hindu youths from the area posted derogatory comments about the Muslim community on their social media. Subsequently, people from the Muslim community surrounded the Kadamtala police station demanding the arrest of the accused. They filed a written complaint with the police. Later, people from the Hindu community also filed a complaint at the police station. Representatives from both communities sat down at the police station to discuss the matter. Within an hour, the police arrested club members Nirmalendu Sen and Dwipjoy Nath.
In this situation, some enthusiastic and unruly youths who had come as a deputation allegedly threw stones and vandalized the houses of the accused Bapon Sen, along with two cars and several commercial establishments.
Upon receiving news of the incident, Superintendent of Police Bhanupada Chakraborty and a large paramilitary force rushed to the scene. To control the situation, a mild lathi charge was conducted, but the intensity of the dispute increased so much that the police had to fire 160 rounds in the air. One person was killed and another injured in the police firing. Additionally, 16 policemen, including TSR personnel, were injured in the clash. Section 144 was imposed by the administration that night. Furthermore, the Assam Rifles were deployed late at night.

Additionally, internet services have been suspended in Panisagar and Dharmanagar sub-divisions since yesterday and in Unkote district today. North District Superintendent of Police Bhanupada Chakraborty has appealed to people not to spread misleading or provocative posts on social media.

Supporters of the RSS from Dharmanagar marched to Kadamtala and vandalized two shops, bicycles, and an Alto car in the market. This has once again created a volatile situation. Police and paramilitary forces have been deployed to control the situation.
